I want to buy a 04 Volkswagaon gti vr6 42k miles.. for 13,000
the previouse owner put alot of aftermarket mods… cold air intake, new exhuast, clutch, suspension…. from what I see who knows what else…
how can I bargain the car for a lower price?
Its now at chrysler/dodge dealership
how can use those parts to my advantage to lower the price…he also painted that lights black and the VW symbols black and took off the GTI symbol
and some other methods to get a good price
I wouldn’t buy a car with mods like that. It’s probably been run hard for all 42,000 miles…
Not likely to pass emission or safety inspection ( maybe now, not next time though)
average retail on a stock 2004 GTI is 8-10,000.00
Trade in value is 6-7000.00
They would not have given more than 7500.00 for it
I would start out offering 8-9000.00 for it….
Well , its in a Lot meaning they want to sell it.
Aftermarket = LOWER PRICE AS A 2′nd HAND.
you never get your cash back for mod’s.
I’m sure you can get a nice portion of the price taken off.
Good luck ! , remember to be persistent but not aggressive and annoying.

If you live in a State that has Emissions Inspections, that vehicle will not pass Inspection. The dealer may be able to get away with it (being a dealer) but no one else will

Well don’t hold your breath more than likely they will not knock much off, be happy if you get them to drop it 500.00 and to be honest that’s about how much room they have to play with.
Don’t expect 2-3 thousand off the asking price.

buy the inspection alot of people do that
it would cost you like 300 bones but youd have everything you want in the car

I would bet they won’t offer an extended warranty on it….
First off, I would like to say I agree with OggHunte about you never get cash back for car modifications. That is true when you trade your vehicle in at a dealership but when selling the car, dealerships will take advantage of these performance upgrades because they know an already customized vehicle is desirable in specific target markets. I understand you would like to get the price down but the fact of the matter is that dealership is probably only making $1,500 on this sale. That means you may be capable of getting up to $700 off and then the sales representative will make $500 for the sale and the balance goes to the dealership. If you go to a respected dealership and give your honest and best offer they may work with you to find a way that you can afford the vehicles and they still make money. If you immediately ask for thousands off the asking price then that would just be rude and the dealership will be unwilling to work with you to find that agreeable price.
Regarding what Sophie B said, “I wouldn’t buy a car with mods like that. It’s probably been run hard for all 42,000 miles…” That may be true but I know many people who never change anything from stock on their vehicles. At least you can be sure the last owner took great car of his vehicle to dump that much money into it. I use to race Motocross at an expert level and after a season I would sell bikes that had $20,000 into them for $12,000. My used bikes ran better than new ones, performed better than new ones, and looked a lot better. Not all modified vehicles are bad because people depend on their cars on a daily basis so why would they customize it for the worst.
That is my thought on your situation. Modified cars are not bad, and it is likely you can get some money off but not what you are looking for. Overall, I would not recommend purchasing a GTI since you can purchase better used cars for the same price. Do some more research on the car you want, watch some Top Gear on YouTube. Good luck, I hope you get what you want.
